Remember those documentaries you used to watch back in high school? Well, add some sledgehammer to the head sarcasm in between narration and cheesy sound effects — and you have Idiocracy. Yes, we’ve all had those thoughts — the idiots procreate and the intelligencia wither away… This movie tells the story from the perspective of a person who wakes up from a bad experiment into the unbelievable future. Unfortunately, I found that although the story had a promising start – when it transformed to an actual non-documentary style it just became too tedious to watch.
Luke Wilson is recognizeable for the fact that he always seems to end up in these B-style laugh out loud flicks. So, as you’d expect, nothing special about the acting — other than they all held a straight-face.
Filmed in sort of a Airplane-meets Beevis & Butthead meets Office space kind of style, there won’t be any subtlety about the humor - which if it weren’t for the sobering topic, would be perfect for tweens. Ok, I admit it, I laughed a few times.
Pretty tame — except for some juvenile references to legal prostitution and a Neanderthal preoccupation with sex.
Ummm…no, not believable in any stretch of the imagination.
