This movie is about a man who helps 7 people, for what appears to be no reason at all. He chooses these people by their character. Why or How these 7 people are helped is the most bizarre and most heartfelt I’ve witnessed in a very long time.
Will Smith, again, wows me with his performance. This time, it seems to me, he really put his whole heart and effort into the film. Another masterpiece from this amazing actor.
Rosario Dawson (Rent, Alexander, etc.) features as one of the 7 people that Ben (Smith) helps. She has a condition that can be fatal if not treated and he helps in the most, like I said before, bizarre way. In the end, in helping her, she helped him realize that the decision he came to was absolutely the right one. She was flawless.
The beach house, the hotel room, the jellyfish, the people, the script… this film was like the blockbuster “Crash” in that all of these people are linked, except not together in any way, but to one man.
From beginning to end this film really catches the audience with full attention to the lives of these lucky few who have been touched by one man.
I’ll admitt, though, that after the first few mins of the film, it does get kinda slow. But trust when I say that you will be into it anyway.
The openning scene of the film really strikes you as a bit peculiar. But, you’re really interested in what he means and how that’s going to affect the outcome of the people’s lives he’s changing.
All in all, pretty tame except for one scene where you find out why he is the way he is. That part, I have to say, really makes a person think.
I really think that one person really can make a difference in so many in such a powerful, positive and affective way. But we just never see many who’s willing to sacrifice everything to redeem oneself. For someone to go to so many lengths to hide themselves from everyone and yet be known by everyone, that’s really something to admire in a person’s ability to change not just themselves, but the people around them.
