Clint Eastwood does it again with this great mystery-drama. Set in the 20’s this story follows the twists and turns that take you from a mysterious dissappearance to a riveting hunt for the cause. The danger with any movies that are fairly long like this one is a meandering plot, but Changeling uses an engaging story, fabulous 20’s setting, and unrivaled acting to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Aaaah Angelina Jolie! How perfect for this role! She fits right in and pulls off a genuine nice mom persona in spite of a drop-dead sultry look. John Malkovich is great as a tireless nemesis of a preacher to the corrupt LA law establishment. I also like Colm Feore as the success at all costs police leader. But really – the whole cast pulls out all the stops in this movie.
Lots of kudos for a wonderful blend of story, setting, and acting.
Don’t be lulled by the moderate start to the film!
Unfortunately, this movie is very realistic.
