Spaceghost's Review

Summary - Bad 1.0 click to collapse contents

There is a line within Tropic Thunder where Robert Downy Jr’s character makes a very astute observation regarding movies – “You never go full retard.” This is a great piece of advice that apparently no one has ever told Anna Faris. In this movie Faris plays a Playboy Bunny who (through the deviousness of another Bunny) is tossed out of the mansion. She has to find a new place to live and ends up at a sorority house filled with a bunch of ugly ducklings.

I’ll stop there because you don’t need to know anymore. You know exactly what happens and how everything is going to end up just from that two sentence recap. This movie is monumentally unoriginal and pretty boring when it comes to the story. The comedy aspect? Just as bad. Much as I love Faris (see my review of Just Friends) she is painful to watch. I understand what she was trying to do, but she just pushed it too far. “You never go full retard.” The only one with some funny lines in the whole flick is Emma Stone (“Jules” of Superbad fame), but its not enough to carry you through unharmed.

Don’t see this move. Even as a joke (or to see Faris’ naked butt), this should be avoided. Go watch Dude Where’s My Car instead.
