Summary - Really Great 4.5

Trekkies will find lumps in their throats and goosebumps when watching this film. Not only does it keep apace with today’s action, special effects, and blockbuster presence, but it is a full bore tribute to the Star Treks of days gone by. This movie is great fun and seat gripping action without losing any of its good humor and resorting to ugly violence.

Acting - Really Great 4.5

The casting director should get a standing ovation for this film. Seriously, I can’t think of a better fit than the chosen Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, and my personal favorite of Simon Pegg as Scotty. “Captain — I’m giving it all she’s got!” and Karl Urban is a classic as the neurotic McCoy.

Film - Really Great 4.5

Brava! Keeping up with today’s blockbuster standards while also paying tribute to a classic is no easy feat. I think this Star Trek easily beats out all the others.

Edge - Risqué 2.0

Your basic shoot-em-up style violence with only a few overtly sexual situation (c’m on — he James Kirk!) . You can bring your 10+ year olds.

Reality - Supernatural 4.0

  I’d guess I’d call myself a newbie. I would always say that anti-Star Trek stuff back when I was about 9 or 10, when I didn’t really understand Star Trek. Now that I’ve grown up, I’ve learned an old life lesson: Don’t judge something before you get to know it.

  OK, not my best review, but there was a lot going on.

  Anyone disagree that “Terminator Salvation” will be to “Star Trek” this year the way “Dark Knight” was to “Iron Man” last year? Serious to cheeky.
