What a fantastic movie. The whole time I was watching, I just couldn’t decide whether to like or dislike the main character, but throughout all of it, I knew that I wanted to see what happened to him next. I’m probably one of the few people who didn’t know the story (having not read the book), so this movie was fully of twists that I didn’t expect. It’s amazing that the movie is based on a book that is based on a true story: I can’t imagine doing what Chris/Alex did; then again, I wouldn’t be happy doing it anyway.
The acting was superb in this book. I was, of course, extremely impressed by Emile Hirsch who portrayed the main character. His performance was extremely convincing, and his ability to fully “become” his character reminded me of Daniel Day-Lewis’ performance in There Will Be Blood
Random swearing, including F-bombs, some nudity and sexually suggestive scenes, and a pretty gruesome hunting scene.
Based on a true story …
