BrianSez's Review

Summary - Great 4.0

A hidden gem of a mob-film does a better job than most others at a deeper portrayal of the hierarchy, allegiances, friendships, and politics of it all by following the penetration of an agent who also shows how even an outsider can get caught up in it. As has been said before, this film should be on any crime/drama aficionado’s list of must-see movies.

Acting - Really Great 4.5

Al Pacino, a natural at the style, makes a great pairing with Johnny Depp, who I’m guessing had to work hard to get his part right – and that hard work shows.

Film - Great 4.0

The mobster-film underpinnings of course holds your interest and provides plenty of action, but it is the focus on Depp’s character Donnie and his relationship with Pacino’s ‘Lefty’ that provides the true goods – a look in to the personalities is the true story.
