D-R-A-M-A! R&T provides plenty of it. Non stop – just like the express train that Kevin Bacon’s character drives. Many times the drama comes at the expense of a realistic story, but nonetheless it is done well enough to tug you by your heart-strings and hold your attention.
Kevin Bacon and Marcia Harden are the mainstay. Marcia exudes the unmistakable brand of feminine drama many of us husbands and boyfriends know all too well, and she’s very good at it. Kevin very adeptly matches it with the guy’s-guy form of the same. Round it all out with 12-year old drama by Miles Heizer – who does an admirable job foisting some of the least believable stuff upon us. Short appearances by Marin Hinkle (who is does a better job as the b*tch ex-wife on Two and ½ Men) were not bad.
The story was a little far fetched by having a 12 year-old who was really acting too old for his age; confronting his mother’s assailant with high drama only to quickly turn around and offer his love and forgiveness – ummm, I don’t know about that. Never mind the fact that he even stays with them for days on end just after his mom gets killed. That said, it does make for a perfect maelstrom of drama – and if you are a fan of drama – you’ll fall hook, line, and sinker.
