The Devil’s Rejects is Rob Zombie’s imaginive sequel to House of 1000 Corpses. It shows how the Firefly Clan stars their sadistic journey of escaping the revenge-seeking cops. This is one of those rare instances where the sequel is BETTER than the original. No, this doesn’t mean they toned down the violence, but the story was acually very interesting. It gave more emphasis to the fact that the “heroes” of the movie are killers than 1000 Corpses did. Half-way through the movie, you didn’t know if you wanted to root for the killers or if you wanted them to die. I call it quality filmmaking: putting the viewer in an uncomfortable situation. With an atmosphere entirely different from 1000 Corpses, The Devil’s Rejects is an unforgettable movie NOT for the faint-of-heart… or anyone basically.
The 3 main characters in this movie were fantasic. They gave chillingly realistic performances as killers, and actually became quite loveable. Don’t even ask.
The strange and hellish atmosphere in 1000 Corpses wasn’t in this as much, as this could be considered a bit of a comedy. Don’t let this turn you away, though, this movie is just as savagely and horrifically violent as 100 Corpses (possibly more).
Not only do we have monstrous and sadistic violence, but it has brutal sexual abuse by a man AND a woman.
The scary thing is that this is realistc.
