“The Other Guys.” Ferrell and Wahlberg act in Adam McKay’s new comedy about two cops that fall to their deaths, a cop whose fear of action glues him to his desk job, and yet another cop whose stupid action at a baseball game cost him his promotion. Throw in some lines for Will Ferrell to say in a loud voice, and you’ve got a comedy that everyone thought would rival, and beat, “Cop Out”
A hilarious performance by Will Ferrell. He nails his character.
Another solid, funny film by Adam McKay, the director of “Anchorman,” who always gets Will Ferrell to say something boring or stupid in a funny way.
Crass sexual references and some semi-serious shootouts.
A semi-realistic film. Outrageous scenes, but nothing too off-the-wall.
Regarding Wick’s Review
Woah. I didn’t love this movie, but I didn’t expect you to absolutely loathe it movie, Wick. I do agree with you on a lot of your critiques, though. Notably the script and the fact that many good actors were just wasted. I hope to God the unrated version’s a hell of a lot better than the theatrical. But I don’t plan on wasting my money on that.
I don’t hate Will Ferrell either. For instance, I thought I gave him a pretty fair shake in Semi-Pro, which now looks like the movie that started his downward slide from “can’t miss” status.
It’s interesting that you two guys gave The Other Guys such different ratings. I’ll have to catch it on a plane or in a hotel room to determine who I agree with more.
