A cheesy but eventually enjoyable movie that infuses a spiritual tale with a good old fashioned Hallmark style love story. Teen idol Zak Efron does a decent job as the older brother who forgoes a successful life for the haunting of his little brother who dies tragically. As with any Hallmark-ish tale, a broader sense of purpose, a hot love interest, and the help of a good luck charm – and you are well on your way to a happy ending.
Zak Efron is fairly decent – much to my surprise. Amanda Crew is less impressive, and unfortunately, the actors with any true potential – Donal Logue, Kim Bassinger, and Ray Liotta barely have more than cameos in the film. Oh well, at least it wasn’t bad.
Kudos for not being overly predictable with the spiritual story-line, but the love story part is a bit cheesy.
