Summary - Good 3.0

Not a bad sci-fi movie, especially considering it stars Vin Diesel, Pitch Black is the first in the “The Chronicals of Riddick” series of movies. In the movie, the dangerous criminal, Riddick, and other passengers on a spaceship crash on a planet and are soon engulfed in total darkness, a darkness filled with extremely dangerous monsters.

Acting - Very Good 3.5

Vin Diesel’s the star. Either you like him or you don’t — personally, I find him to be an average but appropriate actor for this type of film.

The rest of the cast was surprisingly strong.

Made in the post-Matrix world, Pitch Black‘s special effects are lame; however, it had a budget 1/3 the size of The Matrix, so it can’t really be blamed.

I wouldn’t show this movie to the kiddies.

Sex Innocent 1.0

Violence Savage 4.4

There are some gruesome parts to this movie.

Lots of swearing.
