BrianSez's Review

Summary - OK 2.5

Hangover redone in Thailand, but this time not nearly well done or as funny as the original. The crew that you came to know and love get side-tracked during a wedding trip to Thailand, and as is said in the movie “Bangkok has them now”, literally. The movie started out really promising as you are shown how they wake up in a bad state, with unexpected tattoos, severed fingers, and a monkey. From that point on things are only loosely connected and the attempts at LOL moments just did not work at times. Ok, to be fair, there were times when it did work (like Stu discovering he made out with a transvestite), but the film only barely earns its admission price.

Acting - Good 3.0

Ed Helms as Stu the groom holds it all together, although you gotta love Ken Jeong as Mr Chow. The twisted Zach Galifianakis “Alan” is pretty funny, but his bit gets a bit overdone. Mason Lee the brother-in-law to be almost didn’t exist, and Paul Giamatti was mildly funny.

I think that fans of The Hangover really got excited to see this movie. I mean, it was all the buzz with my teenage son’s friends. Too bad that enthusiasm was a bit wasted. It will be a long uphill climb to make money from a Hangover III.
