Yawn…
I never thought I would say that about a Pirates of the Caribbean movie, having been an unabashed fan for many years. But the reality was it might have jumped the proverbial shark.
Johnny Depp has a likeable charm about him, and reprises his role as the rum-drinking pirate who seems to be always looking for a ship or a treasure. In this case, it’s the fountain of youth. Familiar faces from previous “PoTC” movies return, but it seems tired and too familiar.
I hope that any potential subsequent sequel in this series recaptures the magic that made them enjoyable. Sadly, I fear we may have witnessed the death of franchise
I can’t really fault the actors in this one, as much as the storyline. Depp was his usual entertaining self. Rush seemed to be off his mark a bit, riding on the heels of his success in “The King’s Speech”.
One of the highlight for me was Astrid Berges-Frisbey, who played a mermaid in distress. Well done for a young startlet I look forward to seeing again in future films.

Solid review Dude. You, me and BigD all rated it Barely OK. Ticket buyer beware.
Regarding BigdaddyDave’s Review
“Barely OK” was a rating invented for movies like this. Pity.
