Summary - Really Great 4.5

Super 8 was Super Great! A classic Spielberg to be sure, with all the old-school Spielberg highlights: adolescents, action, and science fiction. So what makes the old style new? A inventive use of an aspiring middle-school film-making crew, a discipline to not let us in on the mystery too soon, and well timed moments of humor.

Acting - Great 4.0

Joel Courtney is definitely a young up-and-coming talent to watch. Kyle Chandler of ‘Friday Night Lights’ fame is also good in his role of few words. I also expect great things Elle Fanning based upon the great job in S8. In one of the scenes where she was being filmed, she not only mesmerized her crew, but the audience as well. My picks? Riley Griffiths and Ryan Lee. Although unpolished, these guys can ham it up.
