Lola Rennt, or, in English, Run Lola Run, is my favorite German movie ever. Period. Run Lola Run is mindblowingly original. It’s essentially a red haired woman trying to get money for her boyfriend in time before “bad people” get him. It’s no spoiler when I say…. she dies. Yes, she dies, and when she does, the movie restarts, but a few things have changed. I think this is the most creative way to make a movie ever- re-doing the same thing three times. It works with the butterfly effect.
I also have to mention the intensity of this movie. Let me say… this movie is so intense, I almost had a heart attack. It’s so intense, my blood was rushing through my veins ten times faster than normal. It’s so intense, I almost couldn’t breath. This movie is this intense from the second it begins. And that is just one of the many reasons Run Lola Run is a perfect movie.
What can I say? Everyone is PERFECT.
The techno music really adds to the intensity. The direction is…… brilliant. The writing is phenomenal. The visuals… well the use of cartoon in some parts was really interesting and captivating.
