There’s no denying- this movie is terrifying. Watching it late at night does nothing good for your mind, as I’ve unfortunately learned. Insidious is a daring and different take on possession and haunted house movies. I’d say this is the baby of The Exorcist and Poltergeist. Now, as great as the movie was, I actually didn’t enjoy it that much. Why? Because I’m really not a fan of movies that are just ALL high tension, suspense and jump scares. They’re quite stressful, and a bit unpleasant to watch. Fortunately, James Wan, director of Saw, did not abuse the jump scare tactic. I hate jump scares. When used right, they’re fun, but when they’re preceded by terrifying tension, I’m not having a good time. That’s not to say that the movie wasn’t good. It was very creative- the seance scene in particular. Awesome movie, but too scary for me.
I think the acting was very good at times. Some people were great- other not so much. Lin Shaye was fantastic, as I am a fan of her (she was great in 2003’s unknown “Dead End”).
Every aspect to the film made this movie as terrifying as it is.
Regarding izzio’s Review
Interesting, Iz. Terrifying, yet tame overall with only a fierce level of violence.
