Superhero movies are predictable, and the good news for many of us is that they are predictably fun. Captain America was no exception. Good vs. evil, underdog guy becomes a hero and gets the girl, constant action, a wise mentor… need I say more? I love the nostalgic resurgence of old comic book heroes, and CA belongs to the genre that were born during WWII, so the evil being fought is rooted in Nazi Germany. Of course, this makes it all the more fun to watch some ass kicking. As long as you don’t mind the predictability, you will have a really fun time with this movie.
Chris Evans as Captain America is what you’d expect: Strong, handsome, unassuming – just the type of thing that the beautiful Hayley Atwell would fall for. And Hayley fits her tough but beautiful role well. Hugo Weaving is great as the evil nemesis Johann Schmidt. Standouts were Stanley Tucci as the good German doctor and Tommy Lee Jones as the Colonel. Samual L Jackson puts in a cameo at the end.
This movie sticks to the superhero formula and director Joe Johnston joins the ranks of successful producers of this genre quite easily.
Regarding BrianSez’s Review
Marvel continues their streak. Their movies are always at least very good.
