With the upcoming board game movie, Battleship, I decided I’d review this. Clue is the board game movie to end all board game movies. It’s the dumb comedy to end all dumb comedies. This is one of my favorite movies ever. It’s stupid, clever, funny and unpredictable. I’ve seen it many times, and each time, there is something new that surprises me. Unlike the creators of the upcoming Battleshit, the creators of Clue were completely aware of the fact that this is a movie based on a popular board game. They knew how silly that was, and, in turn, made an amazing movie. The plot is basically the same of that of the game- six people- one of them is the murderer. In the movie, we also get to see the iconic weapons and rooms made famous in the game. There are a few additional characters, like the butler, played by Tim Curry. What does he do? He buttles. The movie is basically everyone running around trying to find out who the killer is. One thing about the board game is that anyone can be the killer. The way this is used is that there are three entirely different endings. Each one shows a different character as the killer. All of the endings are absolutely hysterical.
The comedy in this movie is genius. Absolute genius. It’s a fine mix of physical and slap stick comedy. Almost every line is memorable and I’m always waiting for the opportunity to be able to quote one.
The stupidity of the characters is another thing that makes this movie perfect. From obviously fake french accents, to neurotic old ladies, the characters are lovable and memorable.
To make a long story short (too late) Clue is a fantastically funny movie that I highly recommend…. also, communism was just a red herring.
The acting is pretty bad, but that’s what gives these characters their charm. I actually quite like the bad acting here…?
Genius writing and quirky music. Perfect.

Love the red herring tip at the end.
