This is a very original plot for a sports movie and thats kinda rare for a sports movie it follows a man named Tommy Riordan (whos played by Tom Hardy) who comes home from the war wanting to fight in this MMA competition called SPARTA while getting trained for it by his father whos played by Nick Nolte and his brother Brendan played by Joel Edgerton whos a physics teacher wants to fight in it as well but to get the $5 million dollar grand prize so he could save him and his family from losing their house from the bank because theyre having money problems. Thats all im gonna explain cuz I love this movie and I dont want to spoil who wins
The acting in this movie is down right excellent. Tom Hardy gives a good performance as Tommy Riordan as you really hate him in this movie but yet you feel bad for him because of what hes been through in his life. Joel Edgerton gives a really great performance as you REALLY feel for him and you really want him to win the fight so he could save his family and his house. Nick Nolte gives a PHENOMENAL performance as the father im talking oscar nomination as he really shows his true emotions and you really feel bad for him because hes really hated by his sons theres one scene with him and Tom Hardy that almost brought me to tears because of how emotional it was.
The film above all else is really great as it shows true emotion, great character development, and excellent acting nothing else is to be said about how great this film is
The movie feels real to life I mean I could imagine all this happening and thats what made it so powerful
