Graphic, gripping, history communicated with clarity and understandable progression. I can honestly say that this documentary made me fully understand the war, from start to end for the first time. Clarity of interaction with North Vietnam, the Viet Cong, and Cambodia was revealed in a way that even a Nam history newbie like me could make sense of it all. The politics of getting in to a war and the politics of saving face and getting out were revealed – and it was depressing to really understand the ramifications of what went on and the ultimate demise of South Vietnam. But — don’t believe for a minute that this is a boring history lesson – you’ll be even more impressed with the depth of the wartime experience as it is captured, and it will undoubtedly leave you with equal parts disdain for politics and pride in our troops. Excellent film selection, excellent story-telling, and excellent blend of the two into this rich documentary.
