Jeff Bridges is a virtual world designer who mysteriously disappears. Years later, his young son exploits a clue and enters that virtual world to find him. This movie’s highlight is the sci-fi effects of living in a virtual world, and the results are fairly impressive, albeit with some glitches – like the fabrication of a young clone of Jeff Bridges that never comes off quite right. Don’t look to make too much sense of the story-line, just enjoy it for the effects, skin-tight suit clad women, and cool action scenes with futuristic motorcycles.
Jeff Bridges seems a bit like a fish out of water in this film. He’s much better suited for more true-to-life dramas like “Crazy Heartâ€. I was grimacing at cheesy lines like “you’re messin’ with my zenâ€, which clearly had no place in a sci-fi movie.
You can’t fault Kosinski too much for this Tron sequel. After all, it’s about marketing to the right audience. I wasn’t the right audience, but they are out there.
