Young Sean witnesses his mom’s murder amidst growing up with his dad’s alcoholism and general violence. This is not a recipe for a normal childhood and is a sure breeding ground for “issuesâ€. In this case, his issues center around a relentless pursuit of his mom’s murderer. The gang at the local precinct help him out, but unknowingly help turn him in to a true vigilante. And that’s when this movie starts to have a major disconnect . Sean starts to kick everyone’s ass rather than stay focused on his main goal. And although this is entertaining to watch, as any vigilante movie is, the plot becomes a bit convoluted and contrived. There are bright spots: Caleb Steinmeyer is great as the introverted and dark vigilante, and Zulay Henao is also a treat as the police detective that eventually figures things out. Some great action sequences as well, so not horrible, but a little scattered.
Besides Caleb Steinmeyer and Zulay Henao, I also liked Bill Sage as the recovering alcoholic dad.
