Demona's Review

Summary - Great 4.0

In short, this movie is about a serial killer that uses the classic tales of edgar allan poe as the basis for his gruesome murders. After this startling discovery, edgar must use his own writings to help the police find the man whom of which is the cause for the most violent and tantlizing murders of their time.

Acting - Great 4.0

John cusack- edgar allan poe- played the writer convincingly. The story of edgar was, though some parts were fiction, layed out nicely. He followed through with his character with the deranged and elegence of the writer himself.
Overall the cast was well selected and i cannot think of anyone whom could’ve done it better.

Film - Very Good 3.5

This film was done for the period and done well. It’s one thing take writings of books and make them into movies, but taking the life of a writer, whose works brought either fear or at least just the jitters, and his stories and poems and making them all the basis of a movie, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Whenever someone would quote a line from one of his works, you can’t help but follow suit and it make you feel pretty nostalgic. I think think what makes this film work is that you have to have an appreciation for the works of edgar allan poe in order to have an ample appreciation for the film. Now if you’ve never read anything that this amazing writer put together in his time, this film still has a way of drawing the audience in,

Direction - Very Good 3.5

Dialogue - Very Good 3.5

Music - Very Good 3.5

Visuals - Very Good 3.5

Edge - Sordid 2.8

The way people were murdered were straight from edgar’s stories, so what do you think? Kept me wondering throughout the film as to “who done it”.

Sex Innocent 1.0

Violence Brutal 3.5

Rudeness Nasty 4.0

Reality - Natural 1.0

They made this film according to Poe’s life and his writings, so since there are copycats around now that try using the works or lives of other people to commit vicious murders already, what makes us think that someone wouldn’t use Poe’s work to do the same. It’s all right there, just have to execute it, sort of speak. I also like the fact that they try to make edgar’s death have a reason, who’s to say as to whether or not it really happened that way. This film has just enough of the works and the life of Poe, to introduce a new generation to the most thrilling writers of the times before ours.

Circumstantial - Natural 1.0

Biological - Natural 1.0

Physical - Natural 1.0
