Summary - OK 2.5

Not bad… Big lunk Dwayne Johnson is a getaway driver sent to the slammer after being set up and seeing his brother killed. Faster is essentially a revenge story featuring Dwayne kicking ass and taking down the dudes who wronged him. Ultra cool hit man George Tilman and scrappy cop Billy Bob Thornton try to stop him though, which keeps things interesting. The movie is not bad, but not very imaginative either – even with some interesting twists. Watch it for the ass-kicking action and muscle car chase scenes and be happy that you don’t have to think too hard.

Acting - OK 2.5

Dwayne Johnson: With his natural guns, I’m not so sure he needs the firearms he uses so liberally in the film. As expected, he’s more of the strong silent type. If he sticks to that formula, he’ll do just fine.

Billy Bob Thornton – I’ve never seen him look so scrappy as a drug-using cop. Hi role was a bit schizophrenic – both a good cop and a bad cop. Not one of his best performances.

George Tilman Jr. – Not bad as a crazed cool killer with a really hot girlfriend (Maggie Grace) and an even hotter car.

Carla Gugino – I liked her as Billy Bob’s cop-partner. Not a very large role, but I think she deserves better roles

  As to Carla Gugino, I’m with you in thinking she deserves better roles.
