Wick's Review

Summary - Good 3.0

Atlas tried, again. If only Part II was double the fun or carried twice the load of Part I.

Instead, the new casting ends net neutral while the story remains mired in the Fifties.

Plus the sheer weight of putting on an economic thriller remains overwhelming. Still, all hail the attempt.

It ends up equal to Part I. Both are worth watching.

Acting - Good 3.0

Samantha Mathis – older and less lithe – is a step backward from Taylor Schilling, who remains the best Dagny Taggart. Proof? Dagny Taggart confronts the Union.

Jason Beghe rocks impressively as Hank Rearden, captain of industry. Beghe’s voice rumbles with the best of them. The Big Guy’s better than Grant Bowler from Part I.

Per IMDb, Beghe attended the prestigious Collegiate School in Manhattan with best friend David Duchovny, actor Zach Galligan and the late John Kennedy Jr.

Dude.

Esai Morales is always a welcome sight, here a romantic capitalist.

Male Stars - Very Good 3.5

Female Stars - OK 2.5

Female Costars - OK 2.5

Male Costars - Good 3.0

Film - Good 3.0

It’s an economic thriller. Not a lot of popcorn consumption gets stimulated.

At nearly two hours, it overstays its welcome yet skimps on its story. Guess that’s why it’s always been said to be unfilmable.

Direction - Good 3.0

Dialogue - Good 3.0

Music - OK 2.5

Visuals - Good 3.0

Edge - Risqué 1.7

Barely Risqué.

This Right Wing movie could have used with being a little more exploitative.

Sex Innocent 1.5

Violence Fierce 1.6

Rudeness Salty 1.9

Reality - Natural 1.0

Atlas Shrugged updates the Fifties Fixation with trains.

The Right fixated on them back then because railroads still supported much business after earlier transforming the nation. Legit.

The Left fixates on them now so that people can ride them when gas reaches $8 bucks a gallon – the goal of Obama’s Energy Boss. Illegit. Way illegit.

Circumstantial - Natural 1.0

Biological - Natural 1.0

Physical - Natural 1.0
