Any movie with a soundtrack that starts with Baba O’Riley can’t be all that bad, but director Koepp’s little action romp was a little over the top. Sure, it was cool watching Gordon-Levitt slice and dice the Big Apple with his single-speed bike, and the quasi-freeze-frame future vision was a new twist that I enjoyed, but the rest of it was a bit tiresome: keystone cop-chases, unlikely bike action, and some notably bad dialog writing brought this movie down to simple novelty status.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt – comes across like a shifty teenager in his bike messenger role, gleefully smiling when he gets away with bad behavior
Michael Shannon – So much potential! But the poor guy got handed some of the worst lines ever for a bad cop. He literally said “grrrrr†when things didn’t go his way. Good showing from time to time however when the stress of being a bad cop got to him.
Danira Ramirez was decent and pretty.
This was a tough rating to give. On one hand, I was impressed by the sometimes whimsical action. On the other hand, the characters and lines were awful at times.

Bummer Dude. But at least your OK rating instills some balance against my Really Great.
