The second installment of the new Star Trek franchise continues with a really great story that helps us discover the stories of Starfleet’s past. Despite Klingon battles not being a highlight – the film has action and effects that are on par and ahead of most blockbusters of today. But, one of the best things of all is that old-school Star Trek crew chemistry is still going strong. Not only does Into Darkness pay homage to the past, but it adds new insights and cinematic updates in all the right places.
I can’t be positive enough about the great choices for our favorite space crew ever:
Chris Pine fits perfectly as the young and brash Kirk – subtly showing more maturity this time around.
Zachary Quinto is equally adept at the finer points of being both human and vulcan.
Karl Urban and Simon Pegg continue to get my kudos for incredible homage to Bones and Scotty. They really make things click.
I wonder what Ricardo Montalban thinks of Benedict Cumberbatch filling in as his young self. As for me, I think Benedict is another fine choice. Equal parts ruthless and understanding.

Regarding Wick’s Review
Wow – placement of the classic theme music really cost JJ! lol I’m with you on the ‘Really Great’ rating. I don’t have any succinct reason for it. Just a gut thing.
