BrianSez's Review

Summary - Good 3.0

I have to admit that it was a bit strange to see Michael Douglas in the flamboyant role of Liberace. And that’s just the start of it. How about Matt Damon as the bisexual boyfriend who gets hooked on the drugs prescribed by a strung-out and stretched out Rob Lowe? Haven’t seen enough? How about a stuck-in-the-70’s Scott Bakula or the on-screen antics from Tom Papa, Dan Aykroyd, Paul Reiser and Debbie Reynolds? Yup – HBO films really has gone over the top on this one. For me, the autobiographical film was a something of a novelty. Anything about Liberace is novel, but the casting was a real surprise. Too bad the story itself wasn’t more compelling.

Acting - Very Good 3.5

The acting is the best thing this movie has going for it. Awesome cast; albeit it feels like they were wasted a bit on this story.
