BrianSez's Review

Summary - Great 4.0

Why did I put off seeing this movie for so long? Yes, I had a silent film phobia. I’m glad I got over it, as the experience of watching the Artist was very rewarding. Having no sound (and mostly no sub-titles) forces you to really pay attention. Just like the silent film actors of old, Jean Dujardin, Berenice Bejo and the cast work hard to impart emotion. From hamming it up, to happy, to sad, to — whatever. They went through it all. The bottom line is that following this story of lost pride and love ended up being really easy to do – despite the lack of sound. And the result of that following along was enjoying a fantastically made film.
