BrianSez's Review

Summary - Very Good 3.5

Seeing Bullock on a cast typically translates to “chick comedy flick.” Not a terrible thing, but not something many guys would not line up outside a theater for. This time its different. Along comes Melissa McCarthy, who balances Sandra’s uptight humor with rancorous foul-mouthed guy-style humor. The combination generates enough raunchy LOLs that I could actually recommend ‘The Heat’ to most of my stuck in adolescence guy friends. As for the story itself? Not that memorable – but in the end, that didn’t matter. The LOLs and the novelty of seeing Bullock out of her comfort zone with McCarthy carried the film.

Acting - Good 3.0

The acting, like the story, wasn’t especially memorable. However, watching McCarthy and Bullock stretch out what would normally be a raunchy stand-up routine into a full length film demands appropriate respect.

Going to see it again tomorrow…

    Regarding Tripod’s Review
Yeah, I tend to judge a movie by a little more than the images projected on the screen in front of me. My philosophy is more Ebertonian, such that it is a venue for mid travel or exercise if completely successful. Which this one was, which made it a perfect movie experience.

    Regarding Tripod’s Review
Perfect movie? That’s a bold statement, but then you back it up with a well argued review.
