Kon-Tiki is now officially one of my favorite Shark encounter movies, and the rest of it ain’t chopped liver. Good thing, because the sharks would have loved that. Question for you: What is more challenging than a 4,300 mile crossing of the Pacific in a raft made of balsa? Staffing the boat with mostly fair-haired Norwegians who really don’t belong under the scorching Pacific sun — floating among very hungry sharks, big waves, and bad weather. Were they qualified, yes – I guess so, what with all that Norseman ocean conquering spirit. Seriously though Heyerdahl is a hero, and this movie is very cool.

Good call on the shark encounter thing.
