BrianSez's Review

Summary - Very Good 3.5

One of the most unique Westerns I’ve ever seen…. Tough homestead spinster “Plain as an old tin pail and bossy” Hillary Swank volunteers to take 3 insane women from their harsh Nebraska homestead to Iowa to get care. The movie gives a glimpse in to what it was like to live a brutal existence: weather, scrub, Indians, thieves, wolves…. You end up understanding why anyone would go crazy out there and back then.

Acting - Really Great 4.5

Really great performances from Hillary Swank and Tommy Lee Jones. She does spartan spinster to a t, and he does gruff old gunslinger like he’s always had that kind of role. Great appearances from John Lithgow, James Spader, and Meryl Streep as well.
