BrianSez's Review

Summary - Good 3.0

Who doesn’t like a bloody Mel Gibson fighting for a cause? Braveheart would set the stage for Mel’s sweet spot, which the Patriot definitely capitalizes on. Sure, the Brits and history buffs will decry this film for its plethora of inaccuracies and portrayal of the British forces of evil, but in the end, it was good big-screen action and drama.

Acting - Very Good 3.5

It’s all about Mel. However, a few nods go to Jason Isaacs – who makes a great bad-guy in Col. Tavington of the Royal Dragoons. The young Heath Ledger hasn’t yet come into his own during this film, but you can see the potential. Recognize-ables include Joely Richardson, Chris Cooper, and Tom Wilkinson.
