WordSlinger's Review

Summary - OK 2.5

Whether or not this film is intended to be a true horror film or a comedy-horror hybrid is left to the viewer, but in both areas it falls a little flat. The humor mostly consists of hokey setups for graphic and predictable deaths. The plot is relatively unoriginal, with a meteor bringing a strange alien lifeform to Earth in a small town. At many points, the gore seems to be the main purpose of the film, in which case it succeeds. The gross-out factor is overwhelming and quite often the only thing worth watching the film for.

Acting - Barely OK 2.0

Male Stars - Barely OK 2.0

Female Stars - Barely OK 2.0

Female Costars - Barely OK 2.0

Male Costars - Barely OK 2.0

Film - Very Good 3.5

Given the subject, womry aliens infecting people through their mouth and a giant tentacle-spawning creature as the main villain, the visual effects are fairly well done. The CGI effects are not obvious and the otherworldly creatures appear as realistic as possible, given their nature.

Direction - Very Good 3.5

Dialogue - Very Good 3.5

Music - Very Good 3.5

Visuals - Very Good 3.5

Edge - Sordid 2.8

There are a lot of sexual references, but no actual nudity in the film, the most explicit moment being a scene where a woman’s body is blocked by a foggy shower door. The language is standard horror movie fair with lots of profanity thrown around by the people fighting the monsters. The biggest edge comes from the obscene amount of gore and graphic violence, which include cannibalism, animals being gutted, people being gutted, heads exploding, etc.

Sex Titillating 2.0

Violence Savage 4.1

Rudeness Salty 2.4

Reality - Supernatural 4.0

Giant meteor brings an alien to Earth who turns people into wombs for worms that spread its consciousness to other people and animals while slowly trying to assimilate an entire planet… sound realistic to you?

Circumstantial - Supernatural 4.0

Biological - Supernatural 4.0

Physical - Supernatural 4.0

    Regarding modern marvel’s Review
“If someone hasn’t already referred to “Guardians of the Galaxy” as “The Gunn Show” then a grand opportunity was missed; that being said, the application could very well be applied to “Slither”, his first film.” Ah, yes.
