Summary - Great 4.0

It’s equally hard to believe this movie is already a decade old, and that a creative and intelligent spy thriller spawned two run-of-the-mill action film sequels. Long before Cruise’s personal life effected the way he was view on screen, he gave a knockout performance as secret agent Ethan Hunt in a phenomenal adaptation of the TV show of the same name.

Acting - Great 4.0

Cruise is at the top of his game as Hunt, with great supporting performances by Jon Voight and Emmanuelle Beart.

Film - Really Great 4.5

Contains the now famous scene with Cruise being suspended by wires above a computer terminal. Special effects are top of the line and Director Brian De Palma keeps things moving at an intense pace.

Edge - Sordid 2.7

Nearly no sexual references to be found in this one, and the violence is surprisingly low-key considering the sequels are nearly dependent on it. The film is largely driven by an clever and excellently executed plot, so when the big actions moments come, they are excited to watch for more reasons that big explosions.

Reality - Glib 1.9

Tom Cruise seems a tad super-human at times, but what makes this movies so good is it’s believability. Sure, the events aren’t likely to transpire, but they could.
