Summary - Very Good 3.5 click to collapse contents

I was torn about my review for the next long awaited Star Wars installment. Beginning with the negative, the story itself seemed like a retread of the original Star Wars plots and in general things were not that imaginative. However, this negative is also the movie’s greatest positive: a 2 hour homage to Star Wars’ roots, and that includes the great plot-lines, the characters you love, and even the props and effects! I’ll stress: This isn’t a bad thing! When all of us 50-somethings started cheering at familiar faces (and space ships), the goosebump levels ran high, and all was right in the universe. To be fair – it isn’t a 100% retread; We get some great sequel-worthy characters with Kylo (Adram Driver), Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and a cute-as-a-button BB-8 android. That’s enough to keep the franchise going.
