Gritty, dirty, muddy, bloody, cold, miserable… just some of the words you can use to describe trapper life in the 1800’s. Leonardo DeCaprio does a stellar job representing the will to survive surrounded by a standout cast of Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, and Will Poulter. You’ll definitely get an intense sense of what it might have been like in the cold and forebording North American winters. From Bear mauling to Indian Scalping, and conniving trappers – the odds are certainly stacked against survival. Not for the faint of heart, but if you’ve got the chutzpah, see this on a big screen.
Not much in the way of dialog – which makes it all the more impressive.
Some distracting divergences in to Indian pshyco-mythology, but otherwise really grea.
