Shane Black re-creates Hollywood in the 70’s like the best of them. The Nice Guys is like Starsky and Hutch meets Boogie Nights, with Gosling and Crowe firing on all cylinders. They were tremendous together with the purposely over the top and very funny almost-slapstick humor. Daughter/sidekick Angourie Rice was also great, as was the villainous Matt Bomer. The fifth star in the movie was the set. 70’s perfection it was. Add to that a sort-of macabre whodunnit gumshoe story, and you’ve got the definition of ‘really great’. I’d even vote for a sequel; they did leave that door open….
Regarding BrianSez’s Review
“The fifth star in the movie was the set. 70’s perfection it was.” Primo line.
As to a sequel, I believe they did leave that door open. Make it two votes.
