Ice Cube plays his usual angry and irritated shtick, to little effect.

Kevin Hart churns out movies on what seems like a monthly basis. His loud and frantic style can be funny with the right project and in small doses, neither of which is the case here.

• Tika Sumpter is lovely as his fiancé. She’s got screen presence, as she showed in Get On Up.
• Benjamin Bratt is an effective Mr. Big, but so what.
• Olivia Munn has a hottie-next-door thing going, but is largely wasted in RA2.
• Ken Jeong’s career is a testament to persistence more than actually being funny.

I saw Ride Along 2 on an airplane, so its native profanity was all stripped out. In fairness, it might have been funnier in its original R-rated incarnation.
