I wasn’t sure Tom Cruise could pull off a quality film after the Mummy dud, but he does. American Made is a rollicking good time. And the fact that it is a quasi-biography about the crazy Pablo Escobar/Iran-Contra times when questionable ethics was likely the norm makes the movie all the more fun, because it is believable. Best yet is that this isn’t over-the-top Tom Cruise, he comes across as a genuinely cool dude.
