Robert DeNiro is great as Bernie Madoff, the famous financial bad-man who pulled off a $64.8B Ponzi scheme from 1960 to 2008. The movie, a little slow at times, does a decent job portraying what life as a Madoff was like, and the extent to which Bernie ruined the lives of not only investors, but his own family. The Queens area Madoff family wasn’t used to coming from money, and in the end, they never figured out how to make it for real. DeNiro is top notch as usual, but huge acting kudos to Michelle Pfiffer as Bernie’s wife Ruth.
