I cannot put into words how awful this movie truly was. I tried to find something in it that was at least minutely enjoyable, but alas, ONE MISSED CALL was a terrible excuse for a horror film. It’s plot was even similar to the premise of THE RING, when an unsuspecting victim receives a missed call, received the precise date and time when they will meet their fate. Instead of a haunted video tape (like in THE RING), it’s a cell phone call. Whether this film has an underlying anti-cell phone message I’m not sure, but it seemed like it was an attack on society’s dependence on cell phones. The plot was full of holes and completely inconsistent. It was hackneyed and unoriginal; it stayed true to all of the horror movie ‘rules’: main character is a distressed young woman whose friends are all mysteriously dying; main character seeks help of detective (whom she goes on a wild goose chase for the villain and ultimately falls for); the jerk and the slut die. Overall, the film was ridiculous and unnecessary.
