Summary - Perfect 5.0
you can watch 12 Monkeys 12 times and still draw 12 different conclusion’s of what was in Terry Gillium’s mind as he made this movie. 12 Monkeys is based after the 28 minute french film from 1962 called La Jetée. La Jetée, based around WWII were time travel is used to go back and get supply’s. 12 Monkeys is very different. it tends to mess with you head allot more. James Cole (Willis) gets plucked out of prison with an opportunity to earn a “Pardon” for his crimes and has to travel back in time before a deadly virus was released and wiped out 90% of the world population. sent back to gather information that could lead him to a “pure unmutated” form of this deadly airborne virus turns into a trippy mind melting journey that makes you wonder if he is actually crazy or if he really his from the future. things start out shaky for James Cole as he ends up in a mental Institution put there by Dr. Kathryn Railly (Stowe) and ends up meeting the deranged Jeffrey Goines (Pitt) and discuses the option of destroying humanity. long story short after some scenes of some scary mental patients and things that happen to Cole in prison he gets whisked away to the future and immediately sent back a few years later ( because the mysterious scientists that sent him back sent him to the wrong year initially) He meets up with the good Dr. Railly who thinks he is absolutely crazy and kidnap’s her to go on a quest of information to get the virus sample. overall the film makes you doubt your insanity as you try to piece together this time puzzle and eventually Dr. Railly seems like the crazy one and Cole loses his way and believes he actually is crazy and try’s to forget about the “Deadly Virus” this film is atop the list as one of the best time travel films and makes you and is one of the only films that follows a basic theory of a time paradox that shows no matter what you do you cant change the past just relive it. the film focuses on the dream of James Cole of a horrific moment in his life as he watches a man get gunned down ( that happens to be him ) and he slowly realizes in the movie that the events they think there changing are actually the events that initially happened and shows that you cannot change the past just be involved in it. James Cole is trapped in a time loop over and over as he is forever destined to grow up with this “Vision” and evenly die before himself. to me this is one of the best movies ever made and its going to stay that way a very long time as the potential for debate on this subject is never ending.
Acting - Perfect 5.0
Every actor in this film is perfectly cast. every move is played out perfectly and every scene is beautiful and scary at the same time.
Male Stars - Perfect 5.0
this film has a wonderful selection of Bruce Willis (James Cole), and Brad Pitt (jeffrey Goines) as the main focus of this film. Bruce Willis does an incredable job playing the part of James Cole as he try's to find a way to repair the future with the help from the past. Brad Pitt in the Role of the absolutely insane Jeff Goines. this role very easily influenced his career by showing the range of this great actor.Female Stars - Perfect 5.0
Madeleine Stowe as the enchanting Dr. Kathryn Railly was a treat. she plays the role of a stearn psychologist who is in a tough world of medicine ruled by men. she starts of strong and finished with a bang as her character evolved through out the film to be just as unstable as James Cole.Female Costars - Perfect 5.0
like i said above every role was perfect cast. the focus of the film was willis, Stowe, and Pitt. so there is no need to go on about the small suporting roles.Male Costars - Perfect 5.0

the quality of this is masterful. i saw no mistakes and surprisingly enough with all the time travel things transitioned smoothly.
Direction - Perfect 5.0
Terry Gillium the director behind this mind blast of a movie is also known for directing Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Time Bandits, The Meaning of Life, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Brothers Grimm, Tideland,and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus which was recently suspended because of the death of Heath Ledger. he very easily is considered one of the best directors of all time and he sincerely upheld this title while directing this film. while he is known to be one of the hardest directors to work with his finished product is more then enough to sustain this title and keep him actively working. the direction of this film was probably considered one of the hardest things he has ever done in his eyes and its very easy to see why. being able to piece together this movie like he did in a way to keep people discussing it even 13 years after it was released as much as the day it came out is magical.Dialogue - Perfect 5.0
Music - Perfect 5.0
What a Wonderful World. Nat King Cole is a huge focus in this and it fits nicely. even in the credits.Visuals - Perfect 5.0
the way they show you the dream that has haunted James Cole his whole life progress as he learns more about himself is incredible. when it gets to the end of the movie you know what is going to happen in the ending and it doesnt ruin everything for you.Edge - Tame 1.3
