Summary - Great 4.0
Excellently translating the story of the real-life unsolved Zodiac killings, David Fincher’s “Zodiac” surpasses all previous cinematic entries on the subject and keeps the viewer entranced for the duration as it looks upon the characters involved with trying to prevent and solve the murders.
Acting - Great 4.0
The acting is very good all-round. Jake Gyllenhaal is a stand-out as cartoonist Robert Graysmith, who becomes rapidly obsessed with the case. Robert Downey Jr. is also excellent as fellow San Francisco Chronicle employee Paul Avery, while John Carrol Lynch steals his scenes in a supporting turn as Zodiac number-one suspect Arthur Leigh Allen. Also, Chloe Sevigny is excellent for the few scenes she stars in as Robert Graysmith’s neglected wife Melanie.

Film production quality is as excellent as everything else, David Fincher turning in another fantastic directorial effort. Atmospherically and fittingly scored to music that either reminds of the time in which these killings occurred or makes individual scenes almost unbearable in their creepiness, the film benefits from all it’s qualities as a well-versed and in-depth look at a series of murders that baffled the nation and remain unsolved to this very day.
