Who would have thought such a simple story about a military escort of a fallen soldier could have been so moving. Taking Chance is a perfect example of how a true story can affect you so much more than any fiction. The acts of care, courtesy, and honor were mezmerizing, and the character and story behind all the people who were touched along the journey gave me renewed pride in the American spirit.
Kevin Bacon plays the straight man like no other could. In a movie with such seriousness, the part needs to be believable and there was no mistaking the genuine nature of his performance.
The simple format of just telling the story like it happens works very well, because what happens is moving. Moody music, Kevin’s deep and somber voice, and continuous displays of reverence keep the lump firmly planted in throat.

Great appreciation Bri. I’d watched this some months ago and never got around to reviewing it. Thankfully you did.
