A WWII Fable that only Quentin Tarantino could tell. This is a story that many of us wish happened, and because of that we have a great deal of fun watching and cheering on. Its almost like watching some slightly twisted super heroes due nasty things that we know are wrong, but somehow justifies itself by appealing to our innermost gleeful thoughts of revenge. Add in some classic Tarantino humor and you have the perfect venue for some seriously entertaining material.
How perfect the casting was. It looked as if the participants weren’t even trying. My only complaint is that Brad Pitt was almost too much in the background and relegated to sound bites.
A masterpiece of comics and gruesome edginess. WWII was an ingenious idea by the T-man. Imagine that – horrific actions against fellow humans — yet justified. Nice.
Regarding hurwizzle’s Review
Just curious, Hurwizzle. If you were dissapointed with the film and was eager to move on with your life, why rate it a Good 3.5? Not trying to be a smartass, just curious. Also, Brad Pitt was sidesplittingly hilarious in this film, his performance was brilliant.
Regarding Wick’s Review
Nope. I found the whole thing transfixing.
BTW Wick, during Inglourious Basterds, during the extended dialogue scenes did you ever just shout out “DO SOMETHING!!!!” God know I did. Still a good movie, but not one of Tarantino’s best.
Pulp Fiction is his best BY FAR!!! Basterds doesn’t even make the top 5. Kill Bill, Pulp, Grindhouse, Sin City, and Resavoir Dogs are FAR better films than Basterds. I’ll give it another go around, maybe I’ll like it more a second time.
Regarding Wick’s Review
Where do you stand on Pulp Fiction? Most people rate it as Tarantino’s best, though I prefer Basterds.
Regarding Wick’s Review
I really did not think this movie was amazing. It really dragged, and even though Mr. Tarantino is the king of writing dialogue, I felt it could’ve had a little more action and less talky talky. Still good, but not great.

Great line Brian: “WWII was an ingenious idea by the T-man. Imagine that – horrific actions against fellow humans — yet justified. Nice.”

I labored on how to analogize the big pipe bit, and wasn’t sure what I ended up with worked. Happy to see you liked it.
