BrianSez's Review

Summary - OK 2.5

This post-apocalyptic spaghetti western did little more than add a few new twists and modern action to an old and tired theme. Sure, Denzel fit the part really well, and destruction of bad guys always inspires a few hoots from the audience, but really – there wasn’t much original at all except for the overtone of religion as the savior of mankind gone awry.

Acting - OK 2.5

Denzel didn’t really have to act to work well in this role. He just had to look cool and somewhat realistic as he exhibited superhuman bad-guy killing skills. Everyone else seemed to be doing barely more than remembering their lines and following direction.

Male Stars - OK 2.5

Female Stars - OK 2.5

Female Costars - OK 2.5

Male Costars - OK 2.5

Film - OK 2.5

Take an old-fashioned western, apply it to a post-nuclear holocaust world, and some old mad-max style bad guys — and you could have written this film also. Ok, it wasn’t terrible, just relatively unimaginative — well, except for the religious push.

Direction - OK 2.5

Dialogue - OK 2.5

Music - OK 2.5

Visuals - OK 2.5

Edge - Risqué 2.5

A little limb-severing, and blood squirting action.

Sex Titillating 2.5

Violence Fierce 2.5

Rudeness Salty 2.5

Reality - Supernatural 3.1

Circumstantial - Supernatural 3.1

Biological - Supernatural 3.1

Physical - Supernatural 3.1

I love it when I can save someone some money. And to think the only reason I saw Eli over Sherlock was because we got to the theater 30 minutes early….

    Regarding BrianSez’s Review
Great review Brian. Entertaining and useful. I was actually thinking of seeing this movie, but I sense that reading your review was more enjoyable than going through the motion of watching the flik itself.
