A dramatic look at the life of one of football’s heroes: Ernie Davis. It won’t matter if you aren’t a football fan, this look at America’s checkered history of race relations, and the strength and determination that gets Ernie through it all is a treat. And if you are a sports fan? Well, this movie stands up there with the some of the great emotional and inspiring films that get you cheering.
Rob Brown does a decent all around job, but my biggest kudos go to Dennis Quaid – whom I never would have pictured as a coach-figure before watching this. Approaching the team with both a drill-sergeant’s style and a seer’s calculation. Charles Dutton was also a pleasure to see.
Its not like this type of movie hasn’t been done before – sports with the race plight underpinnings. That said, it was intriguing to see things from, a more personal and dramatic perspective than usual, but it does make you wonder how close to historical fact it was as a result.

Good line.
