This documentary is great entertainment for those of you who are interested in great glimpses of history and downright interesting stories. Not as glamorous as some documentaries (e.g. the Burn’s civil war series), Fire nonetheless may cause you to sit back in wonder about how a great group of men served their country by doing what they loved, and continued their legacy long after the government required it of them. In the case of the 10th mountain division, I can’t imagine a better group of guys – following their passion of skiing and mountaineering, kicking ass in Germany, then returning home to continue to do great things like found the modern skiing industry, form great humanitarian and nature preservation organizations, as well as successful enterprises. Add to it the fact that they sang spontaneously and still hang out with each other today? Priceless.
No acting, just genuinely good men.
Regarding BrianSez’s Review
Solid review Bri. You forced me to reconsider with your reference to Burns, who is certainly the benchmark when it comes to documentaries. Thus I knocked back my rating from Really Great to Great.
Yeah, I stumbled on it last night looking for a “January movie.”
